The Golden Gate Tap Room is now open,
SF’s new Barbary Coast modern playground.

The Golden Gate Tap Room designed by C Walters Design is now open at 525 Sutter at Powell in the heart of Union Square. The Golden Gate Tap Room features over 100 beers in the 8000 sq ft arcade game hall and restaurant.

San Francisco, CA, July 12, 2013 – The Golden Gate Tap Room now open at 525 Sutter St. is a tip of the hat to the Barbary Coast beer halls and game rooms of old San Francisco. C Walters Design worked with the Lori’s Diner team to build a new style public room to play, party, or relax in the heart of Union Square.

Located on the 8000 sq. ft. second floor of the historic Press Club building at Sutter and Powell, Craige Walters, the principal designer, has produced another bar and restaurant with unexpected sharp twists. His signature mash ups create a super fresh take on an old San Francisco club interior. The bar stools, evoking the original 40’s Press Club Bar, the signature 50’s beer ads, the custom 40’ wall of west coast punk art, and the pool table screening rooms are notable
visual call outs.

“Starting with a blank canvas in a grand historic building was an opportunity to create a reimagining of a classic American tavern and game hall. Working with the Lori’s Diner Group, we mixed the old, new, and eclectic to create a truly unique and fun destination, offering simple good food and drinks and old world entertainment in a casual, comfortable setting.” – Craige Walters, Principal Designer, C Walters Design

Serving over 100 beers, from draught to bottles, the Golden Gate Tap Room features a great selection of local brews from the Bay Area, rich microbreweries from the Northwest, international favorites, and rotating seasonal taps. Monthly tastings are an opportunity to meet and learn from local craft brewers who are developing new traditions
with unique tastes and new craft beer styles. Wines, in bottle and on tap, and a full bar are also available, along with small plates of tasty pub fare.

With the best beers, come the best games. The Golden Gate Tap Room houses two regulation shuffleboard tables, three SkeeBall games, two foosball tables, new and vintage arcade games, and pool tables reside in the two video platforms. And for the modern sports fan we have over 20 screens showing favorite live sporting events.

The expansive space is perfect for private parties and events, and easily set to accommodate groups, small and large, for private and business events. Our event specialist can build a plan for any occasion.

The Press Club building was built in 1913 to serve as a clubhouse and gathering spot for the newspaper and literary workers of the time to live and socialize. 100 years later, the Golden Gate Tap Room continues that tradition of fun, conversations, and new friends. The Golden Gate Tap Room is a throwback to simpler times, so much fun that even if you don’t win, you’ll go home feeling like a champion.

Welcome to the Golden Gate Tap Room.

The Lori’s Diner Group, headed by Mr. Man J. Kim, owns the Golden Gate Bar and Grill Tap Room. Mr. Kim is also the owner and proprietor of Sears Fine Food and Lori’s Diners. The restaurants focus on serving home-style comfort food and drink in fun, lively spots. With a huge love for nostalgia and Americana, Mr. Kim propelled the first Lori’s Diner into a six-restaurant phenomenon — a real San Francisco crowd pleaser since 1987.
